TEERPAD SIGNS LEAPING FROG AS PR & COMMUNICATIONS SPONSOR 2008-2009.
Teerpad is a four piece Afrikaans Rock group from the beautiful town of Tzaneen in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. The band was formed in March 2008 when a few friends wanted to bring something new to the social scene of their little 'plattelandse dorpie'.
Leaping Frog has faith in the immense talent of the band and saw this as an opportunity to expand their brand environment design into the music industry.
TEERPAD made their national debut when the band have been selected to perform at the Volksblad Arts Festival in Bloemfontein in early July 2008 and performed next to some of the big names at the festival. It was their first performance away from home ground in front of a completely new audience. TEERPAD was proud to represent Tzaneen in this feat and wore its name with pride in Bloemfontein.
The initial focus of the band was to perform as a cover band in the local clubs and pubs, but that soon changed when they won a local band competition with one of their own original songs. A new mission was born and the members decided to pursue the idea of playing music professionally. With some help from their new manager ‘Ou Grysbaard’, TEERPAD grew into a strong and tight unit, ready to enter the music industry.
In the short time since March 2008, TEERPAD has already done opening shows for artists such as Clint & Co. and Mango Groove. They have regular performances in and around Tzaneen and have built up an enthusiastic fan base stretching over all ages. They have been Office Busted on Jacaranda RMFM and have been selected to perform at the Volksblad Arts Festival in Bloemfontein on 11 July 2008.
Their sound is fresh and new and it can be described as progressive Afrikaans Rock. Their lyrics and melody lines uplift the listener in a positive yet aggressive way. The songs are easy to follow and well structured and because of this you'll find yourself singing the songs in your head on the way home after a gig. The songs are by no means predictable.
They are currently producing their first EP independently and will be releasing a music video in October of their well received song ‘Ek maak Kapsie’. Their aim is to raise the bar with every song they write, so be sure to hear some great songs coming out of the TEERPAD pen.
Plans for entering the live performing scene in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town later this year, is on the road.
