A journey of a thousand miles began with a single step; often a step into the unknown, the unexpected and the unfamiliar. These are the journeys our minds and hearts silently crave and constantly hunger for; journeys that feed the soul with a sense of pure fulfilment by conquering the seemingly unconquerable.
Putting their commitment into caring and giving back to the communities in which they operate, Barclays, in conjunction with UNICEF, set off on an overland expedition that took them from London across five countries in Europe before entering North Africa. The crew of eight then travelled through Egypt, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Botswana before reaching their final destination, Cape Town, South Africa in November 2005.
MILES AHEAD is the photographic journey of upliftment, of giving by those who have to those who have not. The art direction, design and layout, and print production was managed by Leaping Frog.
The book has a message of support from Nelson Mandela.
