PASELLA KOOK contains more than 200 recipes from South Africa’s top chefs. All this wonderful food made their television debuts on Pasella, the SABC2’s Afrikaans lifestyle programme. Pasella visits interesting people and places of Southern Africa and bring the best chef’s food to the viewers.
The book was created as the brainchild of Celeste and Alma from Leaping Frog, and was produced by Tswelopele Productions. Leaping Frog was invited to design and layout of a third of the book and the overall cover pages. It is definitely not a normal recipe book. Just like the television programme each chapter has a theme that runs as a golden thread through interesting notes, ideas, reading material and of course, the recipes. The design of each chapter was based on the over all look and feel of the corresponding programme. Screenshots of the programme was taken and included as an interactive means.
PASELLA KOOK is a reading book, a cooking and baking book, a keepsake book and a ‘pasella’* for each and every one who likes Afrikaans.
The book is also translated into English.
* ‘pasella’ can be translated as a gift or present, without the receiver expecting anything
